“I am in touch with several Nigerians who are longtime friends. One wrote me this morning that last night, Fulani herders (jihadii of course), surrounded a village near his sister’s home. His information is that they killed 20 though he cannot be sure of the exact number. I know her as well. They are of the Kadara tribe in Kaduna State. As you know, it is about half muslim and half Christian with a few idol worshippers thrown in. The Kadaras were idol worshipers until around 40 years ago when 4 (3 are close friends) became Christians and converted a very large percentage of them. The tribe had long refused the extreme pressures to convert to Islam. They are now enduring serious persecution. You know the President is Muslim. Christians believe the government is actually behind the attacks. They certainly are not preventing or punishing them. (GR reader)

Gunmen have killed 15 people at Gonan Rogo village in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Five persons were injured during the attack which occurred on Monday night.
Although the police authorities are yet to confirm the incident, the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government, Cafra Caino told Channels Television that the gunmen stormed the village while the residents had gone to bed and started shooting sporadically at their houses.
According to him, the sound of the gunshots woke the people from sleep as they scampered for safety in different directions.
He added that the assailants shot 15 of the villagers to death in the process, five others sustained various injuries.

NIAMEY (Reuters) – At least 20 people were killed in attacks by unidentified gunmen on several villages in the Tillaberi region of western Niger, the governor of the region said on Sunday.
Ibrahim Tidjani Katchella told national radio Saturday’s attacks were carried out by assailants on motorcycles. He gave no further details.
Tillaberi is in the tri-border region of Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali known as Liptako-Gourma, where Islamist militants linked to al Qaeda and Islamic State have strengthened their foothold, making swathes of the arid Sahel area ungovernable….
